Affiliate Program Terms
Last updated: September 8, 2026
1. Scope and Acceptance
These Affiliate Program Terms ("Affiliate Terms") govern participation in the LightCalc Affiliate Program ("Program"), operated by LightCalc as described in our general Terms & Conditions. By submitting an application to the Program, or by using a personal promotion code issued to you under it, you agree to these Affiliate Terms in addition to our general Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Participation in the Program does not make you an employee, partner, joint venturer, or agent of LightCalc. You act solely as an independent affiliate.
2. Eligibility and Application
Applications are reviewed manually and may be approved, rejected, or later revoked at LightCalc's reasonable discretion. Approval is not guaranteed and no fee is charged to apply. If your application is rejected, or your access later revoked, you are welcome to apply again with more detail on how you plan to promote LightCalc.
Upon approval, you receive a personal promotion code that gives your referrals a discount at checkout and lets LightCalc attribute the resulting sale back to you.
3. Commission Structure
You earn a commission on the first purchase a referred customer makes using your code. Commissions are one-time only and are not paid again on renewals of the same subscription.
Your commission rate automatically rises as your total number of attributed sales increases, according to the tiers below. Crossing a threshold only raises your rate for sales made afterwards — it is never applied retroactively to sales you've already made.
LightCalc may, at its discretion, agree an individually pinned commission rate with a specific affiliate instead of the automatic tiers above. Tier thresholds and rates may also change for the Program as a whole with reasonable notice (see Section 8).
If a sale is later refunded, in full or in part, the corresponding commission is voided and no longer counts toward your tier progress. If that commission has already been paid out to you, LightCalc may deduct the equivalent amount from a future payout or otherwise recover it from you.
4. Promotion Rules
To keep the Program fair for everyone, you agree not to:
- use your own code to purchase LightCalc for yourself or an account you control;
- bid on "LightCalc" or confusingly similar terms in paid search advertising;
- make false, misleading, or unauthorized claims about LightCalc or its pricing;
- distribute your code via spam, unsolicited bulk messaging, or coupon/deal-listing sites without our prior written permission;
- impersonate LightCalc or suggest an affiliation beyond being an affiliate.
Violating these rules is grounds for revocation under Section 6, and may forfeit unpaid commissions obtained through the violation.
5. Payouts
At application, you choose how you're paid: manually (bank transfer or PayPal, arranged directly with LightCalc) or automatically via Stripe Connect, in which case accrued, unpaid commissions are transferred to your connected account on a periodic batch schedule rather than per individual sale.
You are responsible for providing accurate payout details and for completing any Stripe Connect onboarding required to receive automatic payouts. LightCalc is not responsible for payouts delayed or lost due to inaccurate details you provided.
A sale is only credited once the referred customer's payment has actually settled. For payment methods that settle immediately (e.g. cards), this happens at checkout. For payment methods that settle after a delay (e.g. bank debits), the commission is credited once that payment clears — not at checkout — and is never credited at all if that payment ultimately fails.
6. Term, Termination and Revocation
Either party may end the affiliate relationship at any time. LightCalc may revoke your affiliate access immediately, without notice, for breach of these Affiliate Terms, fraudulent or abusive activity, or if your promotion methods harm LightCalc's reputation. Revocation deactivates your promotion code immediately.
Revocation does not forfeit commissions already earned in good faith on genuine sales made before the revocation — those remain payable under Section 5 — except where a commission itself resulted from fraudulent or abusive activity, in which case it may be voided.
7. Taxes
You are solely responsible for determining and meeting any tax obligations (including income tax and, where applicable, VAT or sales tax) arising from commissions you earn. LightCalc does not withhold taxes on your behalf and does not provide tax advice.
8. Changes to the Program
LightCalc may modify the Program, including commission tiers, rates, and these Affiliate Terms, at any time. Material changes will be communicated to active affiliates by email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continuing to use your promotion code after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The current version is always available at lightcalc.io/affiliate-terms.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Affiliate Terms are governed by the laws of Austria, excluding its conflict of law provisions. For consumers within the EU, mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence also apply and are not overridden by this choice of law.
For any disputes, the competent courts of Graz, Austria shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory jurisdiction applicable to consumers under EU law.
